Celina Ruiz, aged 54, passed away peacefully at HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado, on June 4, 2026. Born in Delta, Colorado, on February 17, 1972, to Manuel Frias and Margie Levato, Celina brought a vibrant energy, a beautifully stubborn spirit, and unwavering love to all who knew her.
Though born in Colorado, Celina spent her childhood in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she attended St. Christopher Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic whose life and generous spirit were deeply inspired by her faith in God. For the past 13 years, she made her home in Montrose, Colorado.
A dedicated and resilient single mother, Celina raised her children with fierce independence. She spent her entire career in customer service, most recently sharing her work ethic and bright personality with the community at City Market. Celina was known for her remarkable ability to make anyone smile. A natural caregiver, her door and her heart were always open; she was known to take in relatives who needed a safe haven and a mother's love, treating them as her own. She was also a wonderful cook who loved nothing more than feeding her family and friends.
Celina found joy in the simple, vibrant pleasures of life. A proud Hufflepuff, she loved reading the Harry Potter series, watching Stranger Things, and enjoying classic movies like Dirty Dancing and Grease. She had a deep appreciation for good music, particularly the timeless sounds of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. Those who knew her best will also fondly remember her love for the color purple and ladybugs.
Celina is preceded in death by her beloved Mother, Marge Levato.
Her legacy of love and strength lives on through her children: Angel Ulibarri of Las Vegas, NV; Louis Ruis of Grand Junction, CO; and Catheline Ulibarri of Montrose, CO. She is also survived by her brothers, Tony Ulibarri (Las Vegas, NV) and Victor Frias (Grand Junction, CO); her sisters, Blanca Frias and Felicia, both of Las Vegas, NV; and three cherished grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
A service to honor and celebrate Celina’s life will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church in Montrose, Colorado, on June 19th at 9 AM.
