Chainey Clay Gunderson

February 11, 1981 – September 4, 2017

Our loving son, brother, father, uncle, and friend passed away suddenly on September 4, 2017, in Grand Junction, CO. He was the son of Clay and Pam (stepmother) Gunderson, and Traci and Sling (stepfather) Herrman.

He married Laura Shawcroft on November 25, 2006, and they were blessed with two amazing children who changed his life forever. He was a dedicated, loving, and amazing father to Kyler and Ava Gunderson, the loves of his life.

Chainey was a happy-go-lucky person with a heart of gold who enjoyed life to the fullest. Always the jokester when there was laughter, you would find Chainey in the middle. He loved all kinds of gatherings, especially with all of his family and friends who meant the world to him. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and he bled Denver Bronco orange. We will be forever heartbroken. He was a shining light in all of our lives.

He is survived by his parents; sisters, Season Gunderson and Kyllee (Matt) Sleck; brother, Tyler (Kelsie) Herrman; nephews and nieces, Marcus, Brooklyn, Madison, Mia, Kelton, Taric, and Ellie; as well as his grandparents, Karla J. Gunderson and Pat Tryon; uncles and aunts, Jacquie Gunderson, Randy and Roslyn Gunderson, Traci Wakefield, Page Gunderson, Drake and Heather Gunderson, Linda and Jim Miller, Ted and Cindy Herrman, Dana and Patty Hlavac, Rory and Cori Barnes, and Jeff and Kelly Wright. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl D. Gunderson, Marvin and Wyola Herrman, and Rex Tryon; and cousin, Braydon Barnes.

Services will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, CO 81505 on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 10:00 am. The family has requested that everyone wear Broncos attire.
