Charles Edward “Chuck” Currier joined His Lord Jesus Christ on January 28, 2018. A fourth-generation resident of the Grand Valley, Chuck was born to Edward Joshua Jr. and Gertrude (Russell) Currier at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. He grew up on the original Currier home place at 25 and F Roads, attended Pomona School and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1946. He briefly attended Ottawa University before returning home to help his father on the farm following his mother’s death.
He married Katherine Christine Holland in 1949. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2017. Together they farmed the land where he was raised until 1969, when they moved with their four children to New Liberty, northwest of Mack. They retired to Grand Junction in 1995.
He was active at First Baptist Church all his life, serving in many capacities. He served on the boards of the Fruita Consumers Co-Op and the Grand Valley Water Users Association for many years.
He is remembered for his love for Christ and his family, consideration for others, and his attention to detail in his farming. He enjoyed four-wheeling the backroads of Colorado and Utah, always wanting to know what was on the other side of the mountain. He was an avid reader, a life-long learner, well-versed in world events and played a highly competitive game of Scrabble.
Surviving are his daughters, Connie Martin (Dave) and Christine Aduddell (Michael); sons, John (Teddy Ann White) and Paul (Cheryl Flynn); ten grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be February 3, 2018. Viewing at Callahan Edfast Mortuary from 9:00-11:00 a.m.; Graveside service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.; Memorial service at First Baptist Church of Grand Junction at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception, dinner and fellowship. The family would be honored to have you attend any or all of these events.
