Clarence Dale Parish

75 years married and still holding hands. Margaret Jane (Dalley) Parish passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, and C. Dale Parish passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019. They were in HopeWest, side by side, and were holding hands on their last day together.

Their parents and grandparents migrated to Western Colorado in the early part of the last century. Dale’s father and grandfather homesteaded in Glade Park around 1910, then moved to Collbran and finally to Fruita in the mid 20’s where they homesteaded at Highpoint – north of Fruita. Margaret Jane’s family homesteaded in Fruita and built and operated the Park Hotel for many years.

Dale was born on May 3, 1922 in Molina, Colorado. Margaret Jane was born December 12, 1924 in Fruita, Colorado. They were married on November 23, 1943. From that union a son, Donald Dale, who passed at 17 months, and two daughters, Linda and Lenore, were born.

Dale had two sisters and a brother, Margaret Coston, Elizabeth (Betty) Buniger, and Lee Parish, all of whom preceded him in death. He was employed at Rio Grande Motorway as a foreman until his retirement.

Margaret Jane was the oldest of 13 children, 9 that lived past the age of 2. She was preceded in death by siblings, Joseph (Joe) Dalley and Dorothy James. Surviving are James (Jimmy) Dalley, Virginia (Ginger) Womack, Myrna McGranahan, Rodney Dalley, Catherine Pixler, and Patricia (Tishie) Munoz. Also surviving are daughters, Linda (Larry) Glenn, and Lenore Bailey; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret Jane was employed as a secretary in the Fruita High School office.

Dale and Margaret Jane had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed their family, playing cards, dancing, and their cabin on Grand Mesa.

Services will be Saturday January 26, 2019 at the Church of Christ, 2893 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, at 11am, with interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction.
