Colleen Jean Juarez

She was married to Robert (Gus) Juarez and they recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on August 17th. Together they had five children: Richard Juarez (deceased), Noreen Juarez Alexander, Timothy Juarez, Cecilia Juarez and Padraic Juarez. Colleen and Gus were blessed with 10 grandchildren. Sonya Juarez, Richard Juarez, Maria Juarez, Christina Juarez, Christopher Juarez, Sean Juarez, Anyssa Juarez, Shannon Killpack, Heather Alexander, and Jeff Shipp. Along with her great grandchildren are Dominic Killpack, Lily Killpack, Alistair Kilpack, Finn Shipp and August Juarez.

She worked as a Special Education Teacher in Hawthorn, Riverside and Grand Junction High Schools after obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree. During this time, she maintained affiliations and did volunteer work with the Special Olympics, Mesa Valley Education Association, National Education Association, Catholic Daughters, St. Joseph’s People of God Choir, Stephen’s Ministry, and Guardian and Foster Parents. She was very proud to receive awards from the ‘Special Olympics Hall of Fame’ as well as the ‘John & Gladys Bates Award-Colorado Education Association’.
