Dale Harvey Smith

Services will take place at noon Thursday at Palisade Nazarene Church.

He was an insurance agent for Union Pacific.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen; two sisters, Willa Mae Southard and Evelyn Louise Phillips, both of Grand Junction; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Dale H. Smith passed away May 20, 2017 at his home, with his wife at his side. Dale was born on August 10, 1930 at the old St. Mary’s hospital, to Minnie and Harvey Smith. He lived in Grand Junction his entire life except for his service time in Germany.

Dale married his high school sweetheart and they spent sixty five great years together. They had one child, a daughter Kathy who was tragically taken in a car accident. She was daddy’s little girl and he never quite got over her death. She gave him two grandchildren to be proud of, Brandon Milholland and Erin Bishop. He also has loving great granddaughters and special nieces and nephews that he is very close to.

Dale was an insurance agent for Farmers Union for thirty five years. He received many awards from them, but the one he was most proud of was the scholarship that was funded in his name. It is still giving a little help to students today.

Dale’s service will be at Palisade Nazarene Church on Thursday, May 25th at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Don Blanchard officiating.
