Darlene Mae Bennett

Darlene Mae Bennett (Isaacson) was born in Watertown, South Dakota on December 30, 1945 to Willard and Edna Isaacson. She passed away at HopeWest Care Center on December 11, 2023 at the age of 77. She spent her early years in Lake Norden, South Dakota and loved spending time with her family and extended family engaging in all the lake activities and visiting their farms. Her parents moved to Leadville, Colorado during her early teen years. After that, they moved to Arriba, Colorado. Their next move was to Edgar, Nebraska during Darlene’s senior year where she graduated from Edgar High School. There, she met her best friend, Becky Bennett, who then introduced her to her older brother, Edward. He was home on leave from the Air Force. Darlene and Edward soon married on December 7, 1963. After marrying, they spent time in Clovis, New Mexico, the Philippines, Hastings, Nebraska and then Edwards, Colorado where they raised their family. Upon retirement, they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado.

Darlene was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, gardening, garage sales and volunteering in her community. She was a wonderful cook and showed her love for family by providing countless meals and get-togethers. She loved fishing and traveling and spending time with close family friends. She cherished her time with her grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Aaron John DeLano. She is survived by her husband, Ed, her 3 daughters, Annette Jennings (Roger) of Noble, Oklahoma, Diana Fluegge (Randy) of Grand Junction, Colorado and Jennifer Young (Wayne) of Glenwood, Iowa, 7 grandchildren: Grayson Fluegge (Brittany), Carli Fluegge, Cody DeLano, Jesse DeLano, Marleigh Young, Cameryn Young, Cadyn Young and one great grandson, Sage Fluegge as well as her sisters, Shirley (Bruce) Schnurstein and Joan Marsh, both of Michigan.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Service to be at 2pm on Friday, December 15. Internment to be at a later date in Edgar, Nebraska.
