Darrell was born on September 5, 1935, in Glen Elder, Kansas, to Carson Edward and Anna Theo (Hurt) Lowdermilk. The family moved to Colorado when he was one year old, and he spent his childhood in the Delta and Uravan area. After graduating from Nucla High School in 1954 he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years.
Darrell married Lynne Joan Ament on December 7, 1958. They had three daughters and spent 66 happy years together.
He was employed as an electrician for various companies including Union Carbide, Development Engineering, Paraho, and Williams Company, where he was valued for his dedication and knowledge in his field . When not on the job, he and Lynne enjoyed working on their home and land.
An avid outdoorsman, Darrell loved the mountains, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He especially took pleasure in fishing.
Darrell was liked and respected for his work ethic, easy-going manner, and sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Phillips, brother Dwayne Lowdermilk, and grandson, Joseph Byers.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Lynne; daughters Janet Tharp, Cathi (Dave) Byers, DiAnna (Steven) Harris; nine grandchildren Brian Murphy, Brent Murphy, Lisa (Steven) Dalley, Nicole (Chris) Dudley, Brittany (Jed) Grant, BriAnna (Mark) Anderson, Kristin Byers, and Dan (Rachel) Byers; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Darrell was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
