David Eugene Campbell

David Eugene Campbell was the sixth and last child born to Ernest W. and Mildred E. (Templeton) Campbell. He was born on November 12, 1956 in Delta, CO. Dave, as he was known to his friends, grew up and attended school in Nucla, CO where he later graduated High School from. Dave passed away from complications of a stroke on February 19, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, CO.

After High school he spent a short time in the Air Force serving in Minot, ND. Following that he worked for CB Johnson Trucking and W.H. Burt Explosives both out of the West End, as a truck driver. He also drove truck for Sierra Chemicals out of Reno, NV. He served in the Nevada Air National Guard on the base outside of Reno, NV. After his discharge he returned home to Colorado and spent a number of years working as a carpenter and construction worker around the Telluride, Ouray and Montrose areas. While living in Nucla Dave was part of the Nucla-Naturita Volunteer Fire and EMS department as well as serving on their board. Most recently he had been working at Portage Inc. with the UMTRA Clean Up Project in Moab, UT.

Dave is survived by his companion of 4 years, Heather Fury, of Yellow Jacket, CO. His two children, David W. (Seantae) Campbell of Redvale, CO and Serena R. (Fred M.) Spor of Grand Junction, CO., three grandchildren, Austin J. Campbell, Mikayla R. and Harlen W. Spor. He is also survived by the mother of his two children Nelda J. Archer of Naturita, CO. and one sister Bonnie (Ron) Morris of Fairview WV.

Furthermore, Dave had the privilege of helping Heather with her three kids Jessica Springmeyer, Tommy and Jennifer Fury, and one grand child Chelsey.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and four of his siblings: Ernest Campbell, Irene Burbridge, Beth Madole and Larry Campbell.

It was his wish to be cremated. His graveside services will be held at the Nucla Cemetery on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 at 2:00pm. There will be a pot luck meal following the graveside services at the Nucla Fire Hall on main street Nucla.
