

David grew up in Amarillo TX and graduated from Caprock High School. David had a long and successful career as a software engineer in the oil field services industry, until he retired a few years ago.
David was one of the most accomplished F-Class Long Range shooters in the country, competing since 2007 in many national (AZ, CO, MT, UT, CA, TX, MO, WI) and international (UK, Ireland, Canada) events. David set multiple national individual records including a 200-17X and a 450-38X Palma Record. David was the 2015 US National Champion. The Long Shots team he was on won 5 National Championships and held 2 team records including a perfect 800 score — the first ever in Team competition. These are just a few of the accomplishments that earned him the fierce nickname of “Ninja” in the shooting world.
David is survived by two children, Kira Gosnell Scherbeh and Chris Kelly from El Paso, TX. He also has two granddaughters. He is also survived by his siblings Nancy (Mike) Cayce, Amarillo TX and Blake (Diane) Gosnell, Madison, WI
David was preceded in death by his son Cory Gosnell and his parents Roy and Mildred Gosnell.
There will be a private family memorial and burial.
