He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on November 4, 1930. His family moved to Santa Monica CA when he was 14 yrs old where he met the love of his life, Barbara while working at Ralph’s Grocery Store as a box boy. Don and Barbara were married for 71 yrs, 8 months and 1 day until his death.
Don was drafted into the Army as a machine gunner during the Korean War 6 weeks after he was married on December 15, 1950. Upon his return Don and Barbara moved to Hawthorne CA where they started their family. They have 2 daughters, Vicki and Christy.
Don worked as a plumber/estimator for 26 yrs. Don retired from plumbing and purchased The Hideout Cabins and Campground in Glenwood Springs in 1979.
Five years later, Don officially retired and moved to Grand Junction and then to Fruita.
Don loved camping with the family, fishing with his girls, hunting with his oldest, Vicki, motorcycle racing with his youngest, Christy, and touring on his Goldwing motorcycle with his wife.
His family was always his top priority throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Milne, daughters Vicki Milne, Christy Novins, son-in-law Mark Novins, grandson Trevor Novins, and sister Diana Byrd.
