Don was born January 10, 1930 to Miles Jefferson and Iza Primrose Turner in Walton, Kansas. He married Elnora Arnold on December 20, 1950. He joined the Navy in 1951, worked as an Aircraft Mechanic stationed in Alameda, California, had three children, and was Honorably Discharged in 1955. Don then earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming and was quickly hired by Chevron where he worked for 30 years before retiring. Don was retired longer than he worked and never wasted a day of it.
Don and Elnora moved to Grand Junction in 1994 and enjoyed 27 years in Grand Junction fishing and hunting with family and friends. They also enjoyed league bowling, square dancing, and many friends were made along the way. Don also enjoyed building things such as a large shop with cabinets and wine cooler, wine making, making jellies and jams, garage sales, fixing or MacGyvering everything, and riding ATVs with a Club and SARC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Elnora; two sisters; a brother; a daughter; two sons and their wives; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
