Doris E. Lanham

She was born on November 29, 1928 to John Paul Carlson and Jennie Augusta Nyberg. She had 3 brothers Vincent, Kenneth and Larry and 4 sisters Irene, Ruth, Aggie and Edythe. She was born and grew up in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

She married Phillip Stewart Lanham on September 21, 1947. They had two children: Rebecca Jean Bolton Hannig born January 27, 1949 and son Sidney Stewart Lanham (Cathie) born May 30, 1951.

Doris lived in many places as she and Stewart moved often for his career as a Nuclear Engineer. She was an amazing homemaker and excelled in sewing and cooking. When they retired, Stewart and Doris missed the west and moved to Grand Junction in the fall of 1990. Doris was a resident of Grand Junction for 23 years.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Stewart and her daughter Rebecca. She is survived by her brother Larry and sister Edythe, son Sidney, grand-daughter Michelle, grand-sons Trevor, Chad, Abram, Brandon and Christopher, great grandchildren, Morgan, Tanner, Owen, Berkley, Haylee, Olivia, Abigail, Gracelyn, Sydney and Dylan. We will all miss her dearly!

A family-only service will be held at Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 11, 2014 where her ashes will be interred. If you wish to make a memorial contribution, please do so at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital www.stjude.org.
