

Services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Survivors include one son, Robert Dean of Grand Junction; two daughters, Gayle Cameron of Fruita, and Jeanette O’Neil of Grand Junction; one sister, Ruth Lamb of Clifton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy June Franklin
June 1, 1928 – April 1, 2017
Dorothy June Franklin of Grand Junction, CO departed this life on April 1, 2017. She was 88 and had been a life-long resident of the Grand Valley. Dorothy was the daughter of William Joseph Simmons and Alta Blanche Drake (Simmons). She married John Henry Franklin (1922-1993) on July 21, 1948 in Raton, New Mexico. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Lamb; one son, Robert Dean Franklin; two daughters, Gayle Lynnette Cameron (Ron) and Jeanette Lynn O’Neil (Charlie); five grandchildren, Valerie Holt (Nathan), Jason Franklin (Meredith), Quanna Archer (J.D.), Robert O’Neil (Jessi), and Rikki Bruner (Justin); seven great grandchildren, Kimber O’Neil, Karley O’Neil, Katie Franklin, Elin Archer, Jenny Franklin, James Franklin, and Emery Archer. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Don, and Vernon; two sisters, Gladys and Thelma; her husband (John Franklin), her son (Don Franklin), and granddaughter (Kristin Cameron). Dorothy was beloved by countless others. She devoted her life to caring for others, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to bake, sew, and spend time outdoors. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Callahan-Edfast. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to Breast Cancer or Alzheimer’s research.
