Dorothy I. Stone July 16, 1932 – August 31, 2013 On Saturday, August 31, 2013, we lost our beloved, incredible Mom and Grandma to a sudden illness. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts and lives that can never be filled. Being the organized person she was, she gave us the gift of writing her own obituary. "Dorothy I. Farrell Stone was born July 16, 1932, to Erwin and Alice Farrell and married Donald J. Stone on July 2, 1951. During the Korean War, we lived in South Carolina and California when Don was stationed in the Army. In 1933, we lived in Denver after discharge, and then settled in Grand Junction. We had two beloved daughters, Lynda and Laura. Don, Dorothy, and friends, Bill and Roberta Akens purchased Slope Auto Parts (NAPA) January, 1969. We all worked in the stores. Don passed away in September, 1992. Don and Dorothy enjoyed many years (41 in fact) camping with our daughters. There were many golf trips around western states, stopping in Las Vegas and Wendover along the way. She is survived by daughters, Lynda and Laura (Tim); two most special grandchildren, Amy Kappler, and Thomas Kappler, and sister, Bonnie Shore. At my request, no services, just cremation and internment with Don. Also, instead of donations, take a friend to lunch or visit someone in a nursing home." Our Mom/Grandma was a very special lady with a great sense of humor. She opened her home to us as much as her heart and because of her, our lives were greatly enriched. She had many friends and family who so enjoyed knowing her. Some she leaves behind, while some have gone on before. Our lives will never be the same. Uff da! We love you Mom. Give Dad/Grandpa a hug for us
