

Mr. Edward Levens Fickes passed away at the Hope West Hospice Center in Grand Junction, Colorado on Sun-day, September 22, 2019 at the age of 85. His loving family was with him.
Ed is survived by wife of 58 years, Barbara Baker Fickes of Grand Junction, CO; children, Scott Fickes (wife Michele) of Minturn, CO and Lisa Osborne (husband Timothy) of Grand Junction, CO; Grandchildren: Tabitha Greason of Grand Junction, CO, Ashley Fickes of New Cumberland, PA, Tye Osborne of Mifflin, PA, Nicole Osborne of Richfield, PA and Steven Osborne of Grand Junction, CO. And of course, his precious great-granddaughters Cataleya Marcial-Greason of Grand Junction, CO and Mia Osborne. In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Dolores Fishel and Nancy Fickes, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Jennie Fickes, his brother C. Stanley Fickes and brother-in-laws Bud Baker and Dean Blosser.
Ed was born on June 30, 1934 in Harrisburg, PA to Chester and Jennie Fickes. He graduated from Mechan-icsburg Area High School in 1954. Ed married the love of his life, Barbara Baker on September 16, 1961. De-spite the ravages of his illness, Ed still remembered his anniversary last week. The couple resided in Mechan-icsburg 53 years, before moving to Colorado to be near their Great-Granddaughter, the apple of Ed’s eye.
Ed worked at AMP, Inc. for 35 years as a draftsmen tool designer before retiring and enjoying time with his wife and granddaughters. During his time at AMP, Ed earned two patents for the company.
The couple welcomed two children, Scott and Lisa, into their home and Ed set about teaching them how to live life to Honor God and enjoy family time. His children remember him as a kind, giving, involved, loving life and leading his family as a man of faith. Ed always believed in his children and grand children and encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams.
Ed loved to spend time bowling in leagues with his wife and friends. In addition, he was an avid golfer and fisherman, once upon a time. During their marriage, Ed and Barb loved to go dancing every Saturday night as their date night. He was also a dog lover until the end,
Ed was an active and dedicated member of Hope United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, PA from 1962 until his move to CO in 2014. He even taught adult Bible Study for many years and was very active in his Sun-day school Class. Since moving to CO, he has been a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of life is scheduled for Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at Crossroads United Methodist Church in Grand Junction, CO. This will be followed by a time of visitation and refreshments and then an Honor Ceremony at the Grand Junction Veterans Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send dona-tions to Grand Junction Hope West/Hospice or the American Heart Association.
