Elaine Marie Washington, 92, a long-time resident of Grand Junction, passed into glory on October 10, 2026, at her home in Glenwood Springs, and is now abiding in the presence of her beloved Savior. Born on November 26, 1933, in Larned, Kansas, she was the daughter of Keith Edwin and Minnie Io Thomson.
Elaine graduated from Nucla High School in 1951, and went on to attend Mesa State College for several semesters before marrying and starting her family. A devoted mother, she returned to school later in life and earned dual B.A.’s in Accounting and Computer Science from Idaho State University in 1972. She became a Certified Public Accountant and worked in the field for many years before retiring.
Elaine was an avid reader, always eager to learn and keep up with current events. She loved to garden, bake, sew, crochet, craft, and create greeting cards, which have become treasured keepsakes. Her children and grandchildren were precious to her, and she was always ready to lend a supportive hand. Elaine loved God deeply and had a heart for ministering to other women. Over the years she led numerous Bible studies and recovery groups, volunteered faithfully at The Pregnancy Center of Grand Junction, and remained part of a prayer group that has met together for over thirty years. She will be remembered for her consistency, generosity, and compassion.
Elaine is survived by her children, Shawn Nichols, Laura (Jerry) Law, B. Daniel Washington, and Karen Seeley; her grandchildren, Minnie, Lisa, Ashley, Jason, Ian, Caitlyn, Calley, Caleb, Isaac, Levi, and Theo; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, John Edwin Thomson, Thomas Neil Thomson, and Edwin Keith Thomson, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Robert Keith Thomson and Wilford Lincoln Thomson; her granddaughter, Danielle Dawn Hatfield, and her grandson, Patrick Anse Hatfield.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on October 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Bible Church, 629 27½ Road, Grand Junction. A graveside service will follow, along with a fellowship meal back at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Pregnancy Center of Grand Junction.
