Elbert Lee Keefauver passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024.
Elbert was born to Paul and Cora (Cain) Keefauver in Lyons, CO. He was the 8th of 9 children. Elbert spent most of his childhood years growing up in various logging camps which led to his love of the outdoors. Elbert served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army from September of 1961 to October of 1963 where he was stationed in Munich, Germany. He was a first class gunner, sharp shooter (rifle) and received a good conduct medal. Elbert married Donna Fletcher on March 28th, 1965. They were married for 59 years. They had two daughters, April and Ginger and lived most of their lives in New Castle, CO, and later Grand Junction CO. Elbert loved all things outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. You could take the man out of the mountain, but never the mountain out of the man. He spent most of his life cutting wood and driving log and mixer trucks. Elbert was a gifted musician who loved writing, singing and playing songs on his guitar and mandolin. Elbert was a man of strong faith. He was ordained a church elder and was one of the founding members of The Christian Church of God in 2002. He was a family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in various activities, camping and family gatherings. He is survived by his wife Donna Keefauver, sisters Mildred Pfalzgraff and Lucille Bradley, brother John Keefauver, daughter April McTighe, daughter and son-in-law Ginger and Mark Dalgart, grandchildren Koty Robinson, Aurora Garcia, Faith Chavez, Briana Montoya, James Dalgart, and six great grandchildren.
