November 6, 1919 to August 15, 2012
On the afternoon of August 15, 2012, Elizabeth (Betty) Scott went to her heavenly home. Betty was born to Gertraud and Oliver Reed at home in Denver, Colorado.
She spent her childhood in Denver and Cheyenne, Wy.
She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1942. She returned to obtain her teaching credentials. She taught school for the majority of her adult life. She also worked for Mesa County Motor Vehicles.
Betty married James Raymond Scott on October 10, 1948. From this union was born Kathleen Linnea Scott Swain, and James Reed Scott. She also has four grandchildren: JoLynn Kay Swain Baughman, Daniel Reed Swain, Chandra Marie Scott Hainline, and Kara Lynn Scott Shields. She was also the proud great grandma to seven children: Jeffrey Shields, Paige Baughman, Sophia Baughman, Olivia Baughman, Ries Baughman, Danita Swain, and Elizabeth Swain.
She was a very active member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Choir, the Daughters of the King, and retired from the Altar Guild. She considered the church as her extended family. And they loved her as well. She served her Lord up to the end of her Earthly life. We will never forget her presence in the choir with her oxygen in tow.
She was preceded in death by her son, husband, parents, granddaughter Andrea Dawn Swain, and many special friends and family.
A visitation will be held at Martin Mortuary on Wednesday evening at five pm to seven pm, on August 22, 2012. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at 10 am at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
I lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Choir Fund and St. Martha’s Altar Guild in care of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 3888 27 ½ Road, Grand Junction, 81506.
