Elizabeth Anne Thaler
Elizabeth Anne Thaler, a long-time Grand Junction resident, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Community Hospital.
Born Tuesday, June 6, 1944 on D-day in New York City, Elizabeth spent her formative years in Torrington, WY. She grew up an avid reader and worked as a “soda jerk” at the local soda fountain. She attended the University of Wyoming studying English before deciding to return home to help her family after the death of her father, John W. McCreery.
Elizabeth met and married the love of her life Wayne Michael Thaler in 1964. At the time of her death, they had been married for 52 years, and Elizabeth is survived by her four daughters: Juliana Brown of Mesa, Arizona, Sarah McChesney of Nanuet, New York, Cora Thaler of Houston, Texas, and Adeline Milenthal of Austin, Texas. Elizabeth had 9 grandchildren: Michael, Katie, Bruce, and Emma Brown; James Thaler; Sebastian and Slade McChesney; Atticus and Roark Milenthal.
During her life, Elizabeth was an organic farmer. She was completely dedicated to her farm and her vegetables. She enjoyed every minute she spent digging ditches, picking vegetables, selling her vegetables, and she took true pride in every single thing she sold from she and Wayne’s company Ruggenthaler Produce and Juicery.
Elizabeth was also a Master Food Preserver as certified by the Colorado Department of Agriculture and a fabulous cook! She made desserts that won awards and main dishes as well. She was a master in the kitchen with the ingredients that she created herself on her farm.
Elizabeth brightened the room when she entered it and could talk to anyone she met at length. She was truly an amazing woman, and leaves her family and friends with heavy hearts at her sudden passing.
Elizabeth enjoyed donating of her time and food to Catholic Outreach and helping people in her community. She truly believed that everyone should give back to those who are not as fortunate as themselves.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made at:
