Ella Marie Hedrick

Ella Marie Hedrick, 91, of Rifle, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026.

Ella was born on November 6, 1934, in Grand Valley, Colorado, to Alice May and Charles Irving Lewis. She grew up with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the beauty of Colorado, values that she carried throughout her life.

She was married to George W. Hedrick, Jr., and together they built a loving family. Ella is survived by her children, Lana Keisel; Marian Hooks (Scott); Beverly Hedrick (Jason); and George W. Hedrick, III. She was a proud grandmother to Dianne Hittle-Franco, William Hittle, Kent Keisel, Brandon Crane, Erik Damrell, Eric Hedrick, Ryan Hedrick and Zeta West; her beloved great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Paul Hedrick and his wife Debbie; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory. 

Ella worked as the office manager for the gas company in Gunnison, Colorado, where she was known for her dedication and friendly spirit.

She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Ella loved tending her garden, creating beautiful crafts, baking cookies, and sharing her famous chocolate cake with family and friends. Her home was always a place of warmth, comfort, and delicious treats, and she took great pride in making others feel welcome.

A faithful member of Rifle Christian Church, Ella’s faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and generosity she showed to everyone she met.

Ella was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Hedrick, Jr.; her parents, Alice May and Charles Irving Lewis; her brothers, Edward Lewis, Albert Lewis, Charles Lewis, and Glen Lewis; her sisters, Anna Wiltsey and Ethel Gardner; and her son, Kenneth D. Hittle.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Abode Hospice of Colorado for the compassionate care and support they provided during Ella’s final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice in her memory.

Funeral and memorial service information will be announced at a later date.

Ella leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, kindness, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories; your love is still our guide. And though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
