Elmer is survived by his four children: daughters, Linda King and Kathy Rose (Dale), and sons, Gerald Becker (Pamela) and Richard Becker (Joyce); also, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Elmer is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lucille Ashe Becker.
Elmer and Lucille were married in Denver, Colorado, and started their life together as Kansas farmers. Elmer and Lucille raised their family in Loveland, Colorado, where they together built a thriving family business as a custom home builder. The family were devout members of St. John’s Catholic Church, where all of the children attended Catholic School. Elmer was an active member of The Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge.
After the passing of his loving wife, Lucille, Elmer was remarried to Gladys Southall. They resided in Chandler, Arizona, until moving to Fruita, Colorado in 2005. Gladys passed away in 2009.
Elmer will be remembered by those who knew him as a Man of Honesty and Integrity. He had an infectious laugh and a quick wit that made people enjoy his company even through his last days. People that knew him…adored him.
He loved working with his hands, a true craftsman. This was evident in the houses he built and the remodeling projects he did. Elmer found joy in simple things and took time to enjoy the gifts of life. He was our calm during crisis, and always helped us realize we can find answers to Life’s problems through prayer, instead of panic. He was always available for his family and was a mentor and fantastic teacher to his children. He gave much to this life and expected the same of others. He was not tolerant of “slacking”. Elmer loved to travel, and go fishing and hunting with his family.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the Staff at Mantey Heights and HopeWest in Grand Junction, CO, for their friendship and wonderful care they provided during our father’s end-of-life journey. Elmer will be placed to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Loveland, Colorado, next to his loving wife, Lucille.
A “Celebration of Elmer’s Life” service will be Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 1:30 at Galilee Baptist Church, 2525 Van Buren Court, Loveland, CO 80538.
