

Ms. Bement was a secretary and an active volunteer.
She is survivied by one son, Allen Wayne Downs of Grand Junction; three daughters, Janice Marie Scott and Karen Jean Brown, both of Parker, and Darleen Louise McKissen of Grand Junction; one sister, Helen Marie Alexander of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Estella Marie Fiene Bement, 94, of Grand Junction, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014, at La Villa Grande Care Center in Grand Junction.
Estella was born to Webster Fiene and Gladys Birdsall in Grand Junction August 14, 1920. She spent her childhood in Grand Junction and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1938. Stella attended Ross Business College for two years. She worked as a secretary most of her life and was a member of ABWA for 20 years. She was a secretary in a variety of fields, working until she was 70 years old.
She loved stitching, a hobby she enjoyed with her sister Helen, and was a member of the Embroiders Guild of America. She also liked knitting, traveling with her friends and her church activities. She was an advocate and active volunteer for activities and groups that promoted women's roles in the business world.
Stella is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James Carl Bement. She is survived by her daughters, Janice Marie (Marshall) Scott of Parker, Colorado; Darleen Louise McKissen of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Karen Jean (Randy) Brown of Parker, Colorado; her son, Allen Wayne Downs of Grand Junction, Colorado; sister, Helen Louise (Guy) Alexander of Grand Junction, Colorado, and niece, Peggy (Steve) Kramer of Grand Junction, Colorado. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who cherish her memory.
Services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
