Esther Lorraine (Montoya) Paul
June 14, 1939 - May 13, 2015
On May 13th, 2015, Esther L. (Montoya) Paul passed away and entered the pearly gates of Heaven in Grand Junction, CO. She was 75 years old. The cause of death was progressive Diabetes.
Esther was born to Manuel and Pauline Montoya in Durango, CO. She went to school in Durango, and met the love of her life, Donald Paul, and they were married in 1957. After five children were born in Colorado, they moved to Salt Lake City, and made Utah their home. There, they had two more children, bringing the total to seven. Esther moved to Farmington, NM, for a few years, and finally made Grand Junction her permanent home for the last 30 plus years.
Esther was a Domestic Engineer for most of her life, but she also worked for the County of Utah and Gibson's Store.
Her loves and passions were playing the piano for her church, Bingo, cooking her famous enchiladas, and watching her famous TV shows, ""Wheel of Fortune"", ""Jeopardy"", ""Trinity Broadcast Station"", and ""La Vida"", but the most important thing was spending time with her family. She always instilled the love of God in all of her children and grandchildren.
Esther is survived by the love of her life, Donald Paul; six children, Liz Tafoya (Gus); Lenard Paul (Nancy); Louie Paul; Paula Paul; Cynthia Castaneda (Nico), and Lori Enriquez (Matthew); special grandsons, whom she helped raise, Bobby and Curtis Paul; 21 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Pauline Montoya; a son, Dennis Paul; sisters, Sophie Carrillo and Ruth Martinez; brothers, Richard Montoya and George Montoya, and a granddaughter, Kara Vos.
One of the most ultimate gifts of love was sharing one of her dolls (baby), Lori Enriquez, with her sister, Sophie, and brother-in-law, Moises Carrillo, which shows the love our precious Mom had inside of her. She will be forever missed and loved by all who knew her.
There will be a viewing for friends and family Friday at Callahan-Edfast from 4 - 7:00 p.m. The Memorial service will be held at Junction Community Church, 2867 Orchard Ave, Grand Junction, CO 81501 Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Memorial Garden, 2970 North Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81504, immediately after memorial service.
