Faira Marie Sens

Faira was born on August 10, 1948, to Donald and Mildred Burris. She was raised in Shellsburg, IA, and graduated from Vinton High School, IA. She married Harold W. Sens, of East Molina, IL; however, they later divorced. She held several occupations, including: cashier, pharmacy tech, and medical secretary. Faira was a member of the Oak Grove Church, was in 4H, and worked as a candy striper. She loved her flower garden; often staying out until dark tending and planting flowers and filling her hummingbird feeders. Faira also loved birdwatching; her dog, Holly; and she especially loved taking care of her children and grandchildren.

Faira was preceded in death by her father, Donald Burris, and her step-mother, Faith Burris.

She is survived by her spouse, David Tofsrud of Palisade; her mother, Mildred Burris, Cedar Rapids, IA; her sons, Jonathon (Mari) Sens and Quint (Maggie) DeWitte, East Molina, IL; her daughters, Angela (Mason) Otberg, Grand Junction, CO; Jeannine (John) Scenters, Stafford, VA; LeeAnn Tofsrud; Tracy (Ira Jr.) Carte, VA, and Kelly Ward, MS; her brothers, David (Kathy) Burris, Kansas City, MO; Greg (Marla) Burris, Center Pointe, IA; Bob (Betty) Burris, Manchester, IA; her sister, Connie McAnally, Ridecrest, CA, and 15 grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Martin Mortuary on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., with a reception following at home. There will also be a visitation held in Vinton, IA on Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Oak Grove Church (time pending), with a graveside service following at Garrison Cemetery in Garrison, IA.
