Flossie Ann Austin

April 9, 1933-May 30, 2016

Flossie Ann Austin "Susie" passed away peacefully at HopeWest Hospice Center on May 30, 2016.

Flossie was born on April 9, 1933, to Alice Lenora Hawkins and Francis Henry Vining in Wann, Oklahoma. They were tragically killed when their car was hit by a train when she was only ten month old. Her sister and eight brothers were all able to keep their family together and helped raise their baby sister. They soon moved to Colorado where she spent most of her childhood.

On October 17, 1948, she married Charles Robert Owen and they had four children, then later divorced. She later met and married Lowell Preston Austin on January 13, 1961 and they had two children, then later divorced.

Flossie loved to fish, read, crochet, quilt, sew, and most of all spend time with her family whom she loved dearly.

Flossie is survived by her sons, Ron Owen (Debbie) of Galena, Kansas; Gary Owen (Vickie) of Clifton, CO; Mike Owen (Kelly) of Grand Junction, CO. and her daughters, Roberta Stein (Landy) of Clifton, CO; Patricia Gamrath (Chris) of Clifton, CO. and Becky Childress (Sam) of Grand Junction, CO. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister and eight brothers.

Visitation and a small memorial service for her close family members will take place at Martin Mortuary on Sunday, June 5, 2016. Cremation will follow and she will be buried next to her parents in Coffeyville, Kansas.
