Frances C. Loyd

July 3, 1923 – May 27,

Frances Loyd passed away May 27, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital, she was 90. Frances was born on July 3, 1923 in Golden, Colorado from the union of Clarence and Syble McCloskey. She spent her childhood in Golden and met Harlan Loyd at the Rock Rest Dancehall, they married on October 13, 1940. He preceded her in death in December 1992 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Frances and Harlan moved from Golden, CO to South Turkey Creek Rd where they resided for twenty years before moving to Grand Junction. Frances was always very involved in her daughters activities growing up. She was a little league coach, Bluebird leader and band chaperone. Another and perhaps her most notable accomplishment was that she worked her way from the bottom of the ladder to being a corporate executive in the food service industry.

Frances leaves behind her two daughters; Loretta Tarr of Grand Junction, CO and Roberta Colasuonno of Farmingville, N.Y., eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, seven sisters and seven brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Olinger Woods Chapel, 1100 Washington Ave, Golden, CO 80401.
