A marriage made in heaven On earth it seemed to be Only to be reunited some day In heaven to live eternally.
Gilbert Marvin was born in Vallejo, CA in 1920. His family moved to Los Angeles a year later. He worked as an electrician after trade school. He then joined the Naval Air Corps and trained cadets to fly as a Lt. Junior Grade. After discharge from the Navy, he attended Rockmont Bible College in Denver to train for church ministry. He then pastored in churches around the area of Evergreen, CO where he and his family lived. He then moved to Cedaredge, CO where he pastored for 11 years. After that he moved back to Evergreen where he was involved in jail ministry at the county jail near Black Hawk, CO. He and his wife moved to Grand Junction in 2005. His loving wife of 68 years survives him as well as his two children, Bruce of Grand Junction, and Carol of Concord, CA; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A brother and sister preceded him in death. Visitation and viewing will be from 4 - 7:00 p.m. September 13, at Martin Mortuary and from 9 - 9:30 a.m on September 14, at New Life Church in Grand Junction. Services will be at 10:00 at New Life Church, 1350 North 7th Street, Grand Junction, CO, with Military Honors and burial at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral reception at the north shelter of Sherwood Park in Grand Junction. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Black Hawk Evangelical Free Church, 331 Gregory St, Black Hawk, Colorado on Sunday, September 16.
