

Harley Lee Seybold Jr., native of Grand Junction, Colorado, died June 22, 2015, in South Carolina at the age of 43. Harley was born February 3, 1972, to Harley L. Seybold and Toni (Kovacic) Seybold. He attended Broadway and Wingate Elementary, Fruita Middle School, and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1991.
He was married to Serenity Huntzinger in Grand Junction in 1990. Together they had one son, Jesse Seybold. They were later divorced.
He moved to South Carolina in 1996 where he married Tiffany Harvey. Together they had three children: two sons, Chase and Cole, and one daughter, Kiersten. They were recently divorced.
Harley worked at Sealed-Air Cryovac in their Simpsonville Plant as an operator from 2001 until his untimely death. He was on various employee committees during his 15 years of employment. He was selected to attend the Fire Academy in Columbia, SC, where he was trained to fight chemical fires. He was part of the Cryovac Fire Brigade and a recent graduate of their Leadership Program.
Harley and Tiffany were members of the River Road Baptist Church in Piedmont, SC, where Harley served the children’s ministry. He was a man of faith and loved his family and friends. Harley served as a mentor for the Young Marines Program in SC of which Chase was a part. His most cherished moments were spent with his children.
He had just become a grandfather to Atticus, the 3-week old son of Jesse and Tiffany (Johnson) Seybold.
His last few years were very much a struggle. He suffered through the anguish of severe depression and PTSD, and most recently was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. His family mourns his passing from suicide.
He was a kind and gentle spirit who truly loved so many and gave of both what he had and didn’t have.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Tony and Maxine (Mantlo) Kovacic; and his paternal grandparents, Louis Seybold and Margaret (Seybold) Coulter.
Survivors include three sons, Jesse Seybold (25) of Fort Hood, TX, Chase Seybold (16) and Cole Seybold (10) of Easley, SC; one daughter, Kiersten Seybold (8) of Easley, SC; one grandson, Atticus Seybold (3 weeks) of Fort Hood, TX; his mother, Toni Rubalcaba and stepfather, Andy Rubalcaba of Grand Junction; his father, Harley L. Seybold and stepmother, Carla Seybold. He leaves behind one sister, Lisa (Andy) Carr; and two nephews, Christopher and Nicholas Cameron, all of Grand Junction. His step-grandmother, Mary Rubalcaba whom he loved dearly, still survives.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary, followed by burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Harley Lee Seybold, Jr., age 43, died June 22, 2015, in South Carolina of suicide.
Born February 3, 1972, in Grand Junction to Harley and Toni (Kovacic) Seybold, he graduated in 1991 from GJHS and from Columbia, SC Fire Academy. He served the U.S. Army Reserve in Panama.
In 1990, he married Serenity Huntzinger, together they had one son, Jesse; they were later divorced. He recently became grandfather to Atticus (son of Jesse and Tiffany). He moved to SC in 1996, married Tiffany Harvey, together they had three children, Chase, Cole and Kiersten; they were divorced. He fathered another son, Triston (age 2) of SC.
JR worked at Sealed-Air Cryovac in their Simpsonville Plant as operator/supervisor since 2001. He was part of Cryovac Fire Brigade, a recent graduate of their two year Leadership Program.
He was a man of faith, kind and gentle, and a devoted father. His happiest moments were with his children. He volunteered as a Young Marines mentor, at their schools, and church. Those who knew him remember him for his generosity, love and respect for everyone.
His adult life was a struggle, fighting the torment of severe depression and PTSD. He was recently diagnosed with a blood disease which attacked his organs. The struggle became to much for him; he took his life.
In addition to his children and grandson, he is survived by his mother and step-father, Toni and Andy Rubalcaba; sister, Lisa Cameron-Carr; nephews, Christopher and Nicholas Cameron.
JR loved Colorado, his wish was to come back. He was especially close to his grandpa Kovacic with whom he was buried on July 1. Jesse provided a powerful eulogy at his father's Funeral Mass. His beloved step-grandmother, Mary Rubalcaba attended to say her last goodbye just 10 days before her passing on July 11.
