She spent most of her younger years in Kansas. She married Clovius “Bus” Hale on December 31, 1932. Together they had four daughters, Donna Barnes, Joan Lambson, Kay Lynch, and Cindy Seery. Hazel was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
Hazel and Bus moved to Glenwood Springs/Rifle, Colorado, in 1940, and then settled in Grand Junction for the rest of their lives. Hazel worked at Lifts Fine Clothing Boutique and then for the Veteran’s Hospital canteen until she retired in 1979.
Hazel was preceded in death by her only sibling, Harold Hall; her Mother and Father; her husband; and two grandsons.
Hazel so enjoyed her family and tending to her flowers. One of her favorite past times was crocheting beautiful doilies and afghans. She also loved dancing and playing nickel slots in Las Vegas with any of her best friends. Hazel’s favorite sports were baseball and football. She so loved her Colorado Rockies and never missed watching them play. She was a Broncos fan and loved watching the games, especially when they won. But without a doubt, her favorite night was with her girls on Wednesday night dinners and cards.
Hazel Violet Hale will be missed by us all in one way or another. Our memories extend 103 ½ years long. Farewell to the most loving, kind, devoted daughter, wife, mother, aunt, and friend anyone knew.
Visitation will be at Callahan-Edfast from 9:00-9:30 AM on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, with the service starting at 9:30 AM. Graveside service will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
