Hazel Marie Place

Grand Junction resident Hazel Place passed away at Cappella of Grand Junction. Hazel was born in Rifle, Colorado. She attended school in Rifle, graduating in the spring of 1953. In July of 1953 she married the love of her life, Everett (Hoot) Place. The couple then moved to the Denver area, relocating to Clifton, CO, in 1973, then eventually to Collbran, CO, in 1981. Hoot passed away in July 1999. In 2016 Hazel married her second husband, Tom Hayes. Tom passed away in March 2021. Hazel's hobbies included sewing, gardening and bowling. She is preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; husband, Hoot; second husband, Tom; grandson, Jake Place, and step-great-grandson, Jacob Barley. Hazel is survived by her children, Dave (Maria) Place, of Clifton, CO; Donna (Steve) Golden, of Palisade, CO; Steve (Sharon) Place, of Clifton, CO; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with Reverend Bob Carey officiating.
