Hazel Viola Smith

Hazel was born on September 27, 1924 to Charles and Lila Fortik (Holland) in Sumner, Nebraska. She married her husband, Walter Glen Smith, on September 26, 1946. She was a resident of Colorado for 36 years.

Hazel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed family gatherings, her pets, Razzle Dazzle, cooking, and spending time in her garden.

She is survived by her loving husband, Glen Smith of Grand Junction; son, Walter C. (Lorraine) Smith of Grand Junction; daughters, Barbara Dempsey of Casper, Wyoming, Susan (Larry) Phillips of Casper, Wyoming, and Penny Higby of Lovelock, Nevada; sisters, Alice Hopwood of Buhl, Idaho, Ethel Mason and Gaylene Montano, both of Grand Junction; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 6th at 10:30am at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens, 2970 North Ave.
