Helen M. Gallegos, age 76 of Grand Junction, CO, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Helen was born on November 17, 1945 in Grand Junction to Joe Salvador Martinez and Ordelia Montoya. She was a former resident of Ogden, UT for 20 years until she moved back to Grand Junction in 2012. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and had a love for bingo, cooking, family time, dancing, being a jokester, and crafting.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Johnny R. Gallegos; Grandson, Anthony VanOudheusden; Brother, Leroy Martinez and Fred Martinez; and her parents, Joe Martinez and Delia Montoya.
Survivors include her Daughters, Bobbi Joe Alvarez (Duane) of Ogden, UT, Lisa Larkins (Rodney) of Ogden, UT, and Gail Gallegos (Michael) or Grand Junction, CO; her Sister, Connie Trujillo of Grand Junction, CO; 5 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
You were with me when I took my first breath. I had the privilege to be with you when you took your last. I love you momma, “As big as the sky and as deep as the ocean”, Gail.
A Visitation will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 6-7pm. A Rosary Service will begin at 7pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Grand Junction, CO on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10am.
