Ida Mae Guptill (Slaight) age 92, of Clifton, Colorado was born May 16, 1929 to Ralph and Beth Slaight (Shields) on the family homestead north of Craig, Colorado. She passed on May 6, 2022 at La Villa Grande Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado after a brief illness. Ida Mae spent her childhood at the homestead and went to 1st grade at the nearby town of Fordification, Colorado. Later, the family moved to Craig, Colorado where she continued her education and then married her husband Willis Guptill on July 28, 1948. Together they had four children, Nancy, Danny, Judy and Wilma. She stayed at home to raise her family and later worked as a florist. Ida Mae lived in Craig with her husband and family for 37 years then moved to Marble, Colorado where Willis was in a mining accident. They moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where she lived for 39 years. Ida Mae was very talented, playing the piano by ear from an early age. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed making flower arrangements. She was preceded in death by husband Willis of 73 years, her son Daniel Guptill and her daughter Nancy Henderson. Ida Mae is survived by her daughters Judy Funk and Wilma Johnson, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association at or to Hopewest Hospice at Memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Guptill family.
