J. Dolores Vargas (J.D.), 78, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 29 2026. While he may no longer be with us physically, his generous and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all who know him. J.D. was an exceptional father, grandpa, and great grandpa whose love for his family was evident in everything he did.
J.D. was born in Mexico on February 15, 1948. He spent his adult life in the Grand Valley, often traveling back to Mexico to spend meaningful time with his family there. He was a hardworking man, but his greatest contribution to the world is the love and happy memories he leaves behind. The world was a better place with him in it. There are not enough words to accurately describe what he meant to family and friends. He enjoyed working outside and always had one project or another he kept himself busy with. Stories from his youth paint him fearless and daring. Even recently he was climbing trees to trim them. If something needed to be done, he was going to do it. If someone needed help, he was going to help them.
J.D. is survived by his only daughter, Alisia (Mike); their children, Alexis (Jordan), Anthony (Alexis), Joseph (Kyra), Michael, Gabriel, Araya, and Dominic; and his great-grandchildren, Eli, Itzayana, Luke, and Lorenzo. As well as several extended family members that he loved dearly and often checked in on him.
J.D. will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his beautiful legacy will continue through the family he cherished so dearly.
