

Jack Russell Compton, age 61, of Grand Junction, CO passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in Aurora, CO. Jack was born on November 6, 1961 in Beeville, TX to Jack Dean Compton and Jane Orchard Compton. Jack spent his childhood in New Orleans, Mexico City, and Beeville. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School in Beeville, TX and attended the University of Texas, San Antonio for 3 years. Jack married his loving wife Laura on October 23, 1993. He was a former resident of San Antonio, TX and has been a resident of Grand Junction for the past 4 years.
Jack was a former Computer Programmer and Software Developer at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, TX. While working at SWRI, he was a member of a group of employees that filed for 3 patents for Laboratory Analysis Equipment. Jack was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX.
Throughout Jack's life he enjoyed hunting and fishing and preparing the game he caught. He also was proficient in gunsmithing and reloading and competed in various shooting competitions.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Jack D. and Jane O. Compton. He is survived by his loving wife Laura Ann Shearrow Compton of Grand Junction, CO; his step-children, Erik W. Snyder of Grand Junction, CO and Philip S. Teitel of Houston, TX; his brother, John Wesley Compton of Victoria, TX; and 6 grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Jack will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary & Crematory, 2515 Patterson Rd., Grand Junction, Colorado 81505.
