

Jack was born on June 18, 1938, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Lemuel and Alderine (Schanke) Steepleton. He spent his childhood in Beulah, Colorado and Pueblo, and attended Centennial High School. On October 28, 1956, he married the love of his life, Eulah Mae, in Clayton, New Mexico. Jack and Eulah Mae have been residents of Grand Junction for 30 years.
Jack began working as a journeyman baker and later shifted into the transportation industry. In the 1970’s he owned his own mail trucks that traveled between Pueblo and Glenwood Springs. He was an instructor with US Truck Driving and was a driver for United Lubricants. In 1958, he began motorcycle racing, a passion that continued into the 1960’s and 70’s, and he was later ranked #6 in Colorado for Flat track Motorcycle Racing. He was a member of the Steel City Rambler’s Motorcycle Club and participated in scrambles and hill climbs. He also loved hunting and fishing in the great outdoors.
Jack is survived by his wife, Eulah Mae, of Grand Junction; son, Bryan (Susan) Steepleton, of Pueblo; and granddaughter, Alexis; daughter, Kim (Randy) McHodgkins, of Grand Junction; and grandsons, Jamie and Jeremy. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Betty Pigg and Rose Edelen.
