

James (Dick) Carr was born in Craig, CO to James and June (Barnes) Carr on November 4 1943. He spent his childhood in Routt County attending School in Yampa, CO and later in Oak Creek, CO where he graduated from Soroco High School in 1962. He married Mary Rausler on July 10, 1964. They had two children before later divorcing. After high School he worked at the Morrow Point Dam and Blue Mesa Dam until he enlisted in the US Army in in 1966 serving in the 2nd Battalion 11th Artillery and then the 3rd Battalion 16th Artillery in the Vietnam War. He was released from reserves in March of 1971. After his discharge, he moved to Grand Junction, where he drove truck delivering farm implements to local ranchers and farmers. He later partnered in a farm equipment dealership with friends and continued delivering implements. He enjoyed the ranchers around the valley and became friends with so many. He did a lot of farming and ranching around the valley before returning to Routt County in the early 90s where he continued to Ranch-hand. He moved back to Grand Junction after the passing of his father for health concerns. He remained there till his death.
Over the years he enjoyed Hunting, Fishing and Camping with friends and family and a good old Western movie.

Left to Cherish his Memory are Daughter Dana(Jamie) Current of Grand Junction, son Burt (Kim) Carr of Aurora, three granddaughters Jessica (Eric) Ahlberg of Grand Junction, Nikki Carr of Aurora, Jasmine Carr of Aurora, and one Great-Grand son Colton Ahlberg.
Services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2830 Riverside Parkway, in Grand Junction. July 19th at 3:00pm Reception to follow at the Clarion Hotel on Horizon Dr.
