It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Ralph Ogle who went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Jim was born to Hermon and Mattie Ogle on August 22, 1938. Raised with strong values of hard work, humility, and faith, he carried those lessons with him throughout his life.
He was proud to be a member of the first graduating class of Grand Junction High School, a milestone that reflected his deep roots in the community. Being part of that inaugural class was something meaningful to him and marked the beginning of a life defined by commitment, perseverance, and quiet determination.
Shortly after graduation, Jim answered the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Navy for nearly 30 years. His time in the Navy shaped his character, instilling in him discipline, loyalty, and quiet strength. He carried those qualities with him long after his military service ended. After retiring from the Navy, Jim worked as a truck driver. He spent many hours on the road, faithfully providing for his family. He believed in doing a job well and never sought recognition — he simply showed up and did what needed to be done.
Jim was a quiet, funny man. He didn’t always say much, but when he did, it mattered. His sense of humor was subtle and perfectly timed, often catching those around him off guard in the best way. He didn’t need to be the loudest person in the room to leave a lasting impression. He found joy in playing the guitar, filling his home with music that reflected his steady spirit. He also enjoyed collecting coins, appreciating the history and stories each one held. These simple passions brought him peace and reflected his thoughtful nature.
Above all, Jim was a faithful Christian. His love for the Lord anchored his life and carried him through every season. His faith was steady, sincere, and lived out in quiet ways through kindness, perseverance, and devotion to his family.
He will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his family, his love of music, and his unwavering faith. Though he was a man of few words, his life spoke volumes.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Kaylee Ogle; his brother-in-law, Kraig (Arliss) Bonner; his half-brother, William Ogle (Janell); his half-sister, Janyce Ogle Rotunno; two stepchildren, Kathleen Donnelly and Laura Gale; and nine other grandchildren; and no great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hermon and Mattie Ogle; his sister, Patty; his daughter, Mattie Ogle (named after his mother); and his loving wife, Kristine Ogle.
While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with his Savior.
