James Oley Squires (Jim), was born on November 12, 1939, to Okey D. and Arlia M. Squires in Snowmass, Colorado. He passed away on November 24, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis at age 79.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Okey and Arlia Squires; brothers, Carl, Walter (Bud), Jesse (Bob), Okey Jr., and Tom; and sister, Sharon McClellan. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean; two sons, Jimmy and wife Kathy, and Rodney of Grand Junction, CO; and daughter, Shelley Jo and partner Barbara Benevidez of Wyoming; brother, Gary Squires of Rifle, CO; sister, Doris (Lonnie) Barber of Flora Vista, New Mexico; and sister-in-law, Audrey (Bud) Squires. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on December 17, 2018, at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, CO, at 3:00PM.
