Janie McConnell Quimby, 56, passed away on May 3, 2017, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident at her property on Glade Park, Colorado. Janie was born in Bakersfield, California, and spent most of her adult life in Grand Junction. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1978. Janie's best friend in high school, Jane Quimby, encouraged Janie to date her brother, Paul. Paul and Janie married in 1985, and were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Katie, Jennifer, and Lori.
Janie dedicated her life to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and spreading her love for Jesus. She enjoyed practicing yoga, Bible study, volunteering for children's activities, and watching Starry Hilder and Bossman of the Swamp. One of her favorite times of year was Spring clean up, when she prided herself on her ability to unearth hidden treasures on the streets of Grand Junction. After Janie and Paul purchased a piece of property on Glade Park in 2014, she embarked on a mission to create a peaceful haven. She became a trailblazing, brush cutting, road clearing, cactus raking, tree trimming, wood stacking, fire burning ""Jane Otto"".
Janie's infectious smile (or mischievous grin) would light up a room. She always had an encouraging word, a strong shoulder, open arms, and time to listen. Janie shared a special bond with many friends.
Janie is survived by her beloved spouse, Paul; daughters, Katie Gilliam (Garrett), Jennifer Pacheco (Ed), and Lori Ruiz (Dallas); five grandchildren; father, Gene McConnell; sister, Pam Huber; brothers, Wendel McConnell and Mike McConnell. Janie is now reunited in heaven with her mom, Glenda McConnell.
A memorial celebration of Janie's life will be held at Canyon View Vineyard Church, 736 24 1/2 Road, Grand Junction, on May 13 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Western Colorado Community Foundation - Quimby Family Fund, PO Box 4334, Grand Junction, CO, 81502.
