

Joan moved to Boulder, Colorado with her parents, Doris & Lloyd Story as a young girl and attended Sacred Heart Elementary and Mount St. Gertrude girls' high school and LOVED Elvis Presley. After graduation, Joan enlisted in the United States, Navy and served 2 years as a Clerk Typist, in Washington, DC. Joan returned to Boulder, to be near her mother, and became an avid and devoted CU Buffalos and Denver Broncos football fan!
She met and married, Bill Archibald and they had three children, Glory, Clark and Holly.
In 1974, the Archibald family moved to Craig Colorado, where Joan worked for Moffat County, as a Bookkeeper, Assistant Director and finally, Director of the Moffat County Housing Authority for the Sunset Meadows properties.
Joan retired from Moffat County in 1996 and moved to Arizona to be near family. Joan enjoyed a full social life and became part of the Red Hat Society and eventually became the Red Hat "Queen Mum".
In 2018, Joan moved back to Grand Junction, Colorado and lived her remaining days near all of her children, in Colorado.
Joan is survived by her three children, Glory Canale, (John) Clark Archibald, (Vicki) and Holly Mariz, (Steve). Six Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren!
There will be a private graveside service in Boulder, CO on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 where Joan will be buried beside her mother.
