John Robert Ball, 79, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at HopeWest of Grand Junction. John was born on June 15, 1945, in Boise, Idaho, to Bob Beawer Ball and Wanda Elvira Johnson. He spent his childhood in Boise before moving to Sacramento, CA, where he attended Norte Del Rio High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as Military Police before beginning a long and successful career as a District Manager for Coca-Cola of Sacramento, California, from which he retired.
John married Virginia Vivian Ball, his sweetheart since 1963, and together they shared a lifetime of love and memories. They resided in Sacramento, CA, before making Grand Junction their home for the past 22 years. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his children, John Thomas Ball (Grand Junction, CO), Jody Sours (Chris) of Grand Junction, CO, and Janna Pierce (Scott) of Evans, CO; his sister, Barbara Campbell; his three grandchildren, Jenn, Jess, and Sarah (Santos); and his eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Eva, Effi, Nixon, Ezra, Jayden, and Jett.
John had a deep love for his family and cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had many passions, including riding motorcycles, woodworking, flying in airplanes and flying games, watching Westerns and classic black-and-white movies, and sitting on the decks he built, enjoying the birds and animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob Ball and Wanda Thompson, and his brother, James Ball.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. John’s kindness and dedication to family will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed
