Survivors include his wife, Judy; three sons, Steve Dempsey of Ketchikan, Alaska, Brian Dempsey of Denver and Mark Dempsey of Rifle; one daughter, Leighann Wood of Grand Junction; one brother, Bob Dempsey of Syracuse, Indiana; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

John B. Dempsey
August 6, 1927 – December 24, 2015
John Dempsey passed away at the Hospice Care Center on December 24, 2015. He leaves behind his wife, Judy; four children, Steve (Sally), Brian (Andrea), Mark (Cindy), and Leigh Ann (Eric); six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother; and a niece and a nephew.
John was born on August 6, 1927, in Marion Indiana, to Roy and Mary Dempsey and lived there until he joined the Navy at 17.
He spent his early career in City Administration, and in the later years he served as a consultant to major energy companies. After retiring in 1999, he and Judy moved to Grand Junction, CO.
John was truly a remarkable man. His love for his family, his sweet disposition, and his irrepressible sense of humor will be cherished memories forever.
The family is so grateful to his Hospice Team—Kim, Charlotte, Cindy, Courtney, and Scott; as well as the caring staff at the Care Center.
At John’s request, services will be private at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
