John was born to Frank and Etta Hoppe in Gordon, Nebraska, June 14, 1940. In January of 1957, he married Marilyn Moses, and together they raised seven children, Debra, Edward, Paula, Mark, Twilla, Brenda and John.
John worked in various aspects of the construction industry, finishing his career as a field engineer for Geo Tech. John loved working on old cars and passed that love on to his sons. He loved music and played the guitar in a band in his earlier days. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing. But most of all he loved to go fishing with his beloved wife Marilyn.

His sisters, Loretta Medina, Vicki Hrasky, Peggy Meyers all of Nebraska and Susan Hunt of Florida.
Twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Marilyn, his parents Frank and Etta Hoppe, his daughter, Debra Hoeckendorf, his son Edward Hoppe, his brothers, Victor Hoppe and Frankie Lee Hoppe, his sisters, Virginia Newbold, Mary Cushing, Wilma McConnel, Lois Shaneaman, Patricia Martinez and June Hoppe.
A Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 between 5:00pm and 7:00 pm at Martin Mortuary, 550 North Avenue, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501. Services will be at 9:00 am graveside at Orchard Mesa Cemetery on Wednesday, May 10,2023.
