John was born 12/13/1938 in Delaware, Ohio to Robert E. and Pauline (Hopper) Parker. He attended St. Mary’s School in Delaware for 12 years, graduating in 1956. During high school and after graduation, John worked at the Ohio Department of Highways.
Jill (Keefer) became his bride and they were married on September 30, 1961. John was drafted into the Army October 15, 1961. He served his country at Fort Eustis, Virginia and was honorably discharged November 14, 1963.
John and Jill returned to Delaware, Ohio. John joined his father in the family-owned business “Parker’s Men’s Wear.” The business was a favorite for many locals. In order to enjoy an early retirement, Parker’s Men’s Wear sponsored a “Going out of Business Sale” in December 1992.
John and Jill then spent the next 20 years travelling across the United States and in Canada, with frequent stops in Colorado to visit their daughter and her growing family. This adventure was a very special time for John and Jill.
They based their new home in Grand Junction, CO to be close to their grandchildren. John enjoyed various interests during those years. He obtained his Master Gardener certification. He worked as a groundkeeper at Lakeside Condo Association. He served on the Christianna Homeowner’s Association board for many years, where they resided. He also worked for Crossroads Health and Fitness, and enjoyed being a long-time member of Crossroads.
He was preceded in death by his sister MaryAnn (Mimi) and brother-in-law Jack (also brother of Jill’s). He is survived by his wife Jill, daughter Kathleen Parker Wilson, and his two grandchildren.
