

Mr. Stevens was the owner/operator of Stevens Economic Planning Concepts and securities representative for Wilbank Securities.
A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, with Mass at 3 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Sammi Bessert of Loma and Mindi Stevens of Grand Junction; three brothers, J.D. of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Rob of Pine Bluffs Wyoming, and Dan of Fort Collins; and two grandchildren.

John R. Stevens, 63, of Grand Junction, CO passed away September 7th, from complications of frontotemperal dementia.
John was born in Cheyenne, WY, September 11, 1950, and was raised in Pine Bluffs, WY. He graduated from Pine Bluffs High School in 1968, and attended the University of Wyoming. He was proud of his service in the Navy during his two terms of duty in the Vietnam War. In 1971 he married Kathy Messer, they settled in Evanston, WY, and had two daughters. He sold insurance for Farm Bureau and served two terms as Uinta County Commissioner before moving to Grand Junction, CO in 1991 to be a manager for Farm Bureau Insurance. In 1994, he started his own securities investments and charitable planning business.
He served on the Oasis Clubhouse advisory board, the Grand Junction Airport Authority, State of Wyoming Insurance Commissioners Board, and was parish council chairman for IHM Catholic Church. He belonged to many organizations including the Grand Junction Lion's Club, Tailhook Association, the Navy League, Moose Club, American Legion, University of Wyoming Cowboy Joe Club Board, and RMEF.
John enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, rodeo and spending time with his family, grandkids and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Mary Stevens of Pine Bluffs, WY.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of 43 years; his daughters, Sammi (Bob) Bessert of Loma, CO, and Mindi Stevens of Grand Junction; grandsons, Kade and Keane Bessert of Loma, CO; brothers, JD (Teri) Stevens of Cheyenne, WY; Rob (Sue) Stevens of Pine Bluffs, WY; Dan (Barbara) Stevens of Fort Collins, CO; a niece, and many nephews.
Services will be handled by Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A Rosary will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Thursday, September 11th, at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Friday, September 12th, at 3:00 p.m.
