Born in San Jose, California to John and Ruth Doesekle on October 27, 1946.
His very young years were spent in the desert and coastal communities of California where his Dad was a house painter and his Mom lovingly cared for him and his sister Judy.
After the untimely death of his Dad in 1950, his Mom married John D Childers of Bakersfield.
Joseph had some very happy memories of fishing the small streams east of Bakersfield as a boy with his family.
After he served in the Navy SEABEE in Vietnam, he graduated from Bakersfield Jr College with an AA Degree in electronics. While he was finishing school, he worked at a foundry. He then worked for Schlumberger, an oilfield services company as an Electronics Technician. During this time he married his wife Cleda. Their sons Richard and Gary were lovingly cared for by their Mom.
In July 2017 Joseph moved to Delta, Colorado, then to Grand Junction, Colorado.
His interests were NA, AA and his church New Life Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed making slogans for T shirts. He loved dogs, always a good friend to them. Last summer he got to do one of his most favorite things, fly-fishing and camping.
Joseph's wife Cleda, sons Richard Hicks and Gary Doesekle and the Sebring family would like to thank all the staff of the Grand Junction VA Medical Center for the excellent care and compassion given to Joseph.
We thank his friends in NA and AA for expressing much love and concern since Joseph has been in Grand Junction.
He passed on At Peace With God on January 1, 2019, after being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.
In Joseph’s honor, Memorial Contributions can be made to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO 81501
