Joshua Dahl Aubert

Joshua "Josh" Dahl Aubert passed away peacefully On July 18th, 2026 after a long and courageous health battle due to a heart related birth defect. He was surrounded by the love of those who meant the most to him. Josh was born June 13, 1973, in Grand Junction, CO. He graduated from Grand Junction High School and University of Colorado- Boulder. Josh achieved his MBA and was the Grand Valley’s greatest mortgage man.

If you knew Josh, you knew that family meant everything to him. He is survived by his wife, Jessica, and their sons, Ethan, Soren, and Jimmy; his mom, Mary, and stepdad, Hugh; his dad, Dahl, and stepmom, Donna; his brother, Jake, his wife, Jennie, and their children, Luke and Emma; and his brother, Justin, his wife, Kendi, and their children, Kamryn and Trevor. He also leaves behind countless friends—especially the "B's"— and extended family members who will miss him deeply.

Josh was happiest when he was outside and surrounded by the people he loved. Whether he was spending time on his front porch in Fruita listening to music with Jessica, their close friend Mindy, his border collies, Rango or Cliff; on the family ranch, golfing with friends and family, firing up the barbecue, watching the CU Buffs or Denver Broncos, or skiing in the mountains, Josh was simply happy being with others. His easygoing nature and genuine kindness made everyone feel welcome and he never met a stranger. Josh taught many, especially his wife, to find the “BS,” the Bright Side. Josh would also tell you to stay off his lawn.

Even through life's toughest challenges, Josh chose to focus on the good. His positive attitude, sense of humor, and quiet strength got him through many hard times while inspiring those around him. He never stopped finding the “BS.” His incredible ability to find the good, especially during difficult times, left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He chose to be happy and taught others to do the same. He consistently told Jessica, “Baby- don’t sweat the small stuff,” and Jessica listened.

More than anything, Josh will be remembered for the love he had for his wife, sons, dear brothers, family and friends, his infectious smile, beautiful blue eyes, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His memory will live on in the stories we tell, the time we spend together, and the many lives he touched along the way. Josh- being the biggest Van Halen fan ever- would remind everyone to Stay Frosty.

A celebration of life for Josh Aubert will be held at CMU’s south ballroom 8/10/26 at 11 am with a reception to follow at Bookcliff Country Club.
