

Julian was born on September 27, 1924 in Greeley, Colorado from the union of Manuel and Tonita Melgares. He married Lourdes A. Trujillo on August 26, 1946 in Taos, New Mexico; she preceded him in death on April 30, 2014.
Julian was heavy duty mechanic who formerly worked for Corn Construction in Grand Junction, CO. He was of the Catholic faith and friends and family will always remember hearing him say “Que Bueno”.
Julian leaves behind two sons; Michael (Tammy) Melgares of Grand Junction, CO, Robert (Bonnie) Melgares of Clifton, CO, two daughters; Patricia (Carl) Atencio of Algodones, New Mexico, JoAnn Melgares of Albuquerque, New Mexico, four brothers; Paul, Fermin, Cisco and George Melgares, a sister; Rita Cordova, ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, three brothers; Nash, Jess, Max Melgares and a sister Frances Abeyta. The family would like to extend their deepest thank you to Julian’s extended Mesa Manor family for the wonderful care and friendship.
Private family services will take place in Alamosa, CO at a later date.
